The good news is the gang at The Morning Show couldn’t be cooler, and even as they reeled from the nasty defeat of their Socceroos at the World Cup, they kept their Aussie sense of humor and as usual, I had a great time being on the show.

In my work as community supported journalist at the Coaching Commons (www.coachingcommons.org), I’ve gotten to know a lot of the best career, life and business coaches in the world. They are fascinating people who ask tough questions of their clients, and offer blunt but often brilliant thoughts in return. It got me thinking about our business: for many of us, we’re at a scary crossroads. The business we’ve always known is collapsing, and something new is rising up to take its place. What does it mean? How do we adapt? Where do we go when the career path we always planned for suddenly doesn’t exist anymore?

Good questions. I believe journo-coaching can help guide aspiring journalists and storytellers–and mid-career pros–through the rocky terrain to a thrilling future. We’re literally being given a chance to re-create what journalism is and will be for the rest of our lives. If you want in, and want some coaching on how to thrive in this time of change, I’d love to work with you.

standupkid coaching offers one-on-one coaching by phone, web or even email. Our schedules can sometimes make it tough to plan meetings. We can work around that. We also do group coaching and free coaching classes, so there’s something for every budget. Curious to learn more? Contact Mark Joyella directly at mark[at]standupkid.com.

We can teach you how to do it–and do it well. We’ve been telling stories visually for years, and have learned a lot about standing in front of a camera and grabbing a viewer’s attention: whether they’re seeing you in a monster plasma HD set, or in a tiny box on a laptop. The basics cut across all platforms. We’ll coach you through it from start to finish, and give you the benefit of the mistakes we’ve made, and the survival skills we’ve learned.

Mark’s taught aspiring journalists on camera skills at Media Bistro in New York, and led workshops at the City University of New York’s Graduate School of Journalism. He’s coached print professionals who wanted to take their careers into video, and business types who wanted to feel more comfortable giving interviews and making appearances on video on their corporate websites.
